Privacy and data
Unit enquiries and site access records are the two places where C R Storage Limited comes to hold information about a person, and this page sets out what sits in each of them, why it is kept and for how long.
Controller
C R Storage Limited, registered in England & Wales under company number 14117571, registered office 6 Palmerston Drive, Tividale, Oldbury, B69 3NA, United Kingdom. The company decides what is recorded and how it is used, and is the controller of everything described below.
Enquiries
An email to the depot carries the name it is signed with, the address it is sent from, and whatever the sender chooses to put in the message — usually a rough description of the goods, the dates in mind, and sometimes a telephone number or a company name. That message is kept as it arrives.
Hire records
Where an enquiry turns into a hire, the company records the name and contact details of the hirer, the unit taken, the dates it runs from, the identification shown at the point of hire, and the invoices and payment references belonging to the account.
Access
The site keeps a record of entry to the premises: who attended, which unit they attended for, and when they came and went. This is held so the company knows who has been on site, can settle a question about the condition of a unit, and can account for movements in and out of the yard.
Purposes
Enquiry information is used to answer the enquiry and to quote for space. Hire records are used to run the account, invoice it, and manage the unit while it is occupied. Access records are used to keep the site secure and to resolve anything that arises about a unit or the premises. Cleaning work is logged against the unit itself.
Basis
Enquiries are handled on the basis of the company’s legitimate interest in replying to people who approach it. Hire records rest on the hire agreement itself and on the record-keeping that company and tax law require. Access records rest on the company’s legitimate interest in the security of its premises and the goods stored in them.
Retention
Enquiries that come to nothing are kept while the enquiry is live and for a short period after, then removed. Hire records and the invoices attached to them are kept for the period a company is required to retain its business and accounting records. Site access records are kept for a short operational period and are then cleared in turn.
Disclosure
Information is passed on where the hirer asks for it, where the company’s accountant needs it to prepare the accounts, or where a public authority is entitled to require it. Anyone acting for the company on those terms handles the information for that purpose alone.
Website
These pages are plain static files. They operate without cookies, without analytics and without third-party tracking; the unit sizer runs entirely inside the browser and the figures typed into it stay on the device. Information reaches the company at the point somebody chooses to send an email.
Rights
You may ask for a copy of what the company holds about you, ask for a correction where something is wrong, ask for deletion where a record is no longer needed, object to a particular use, or ask for restriction while a question is being sorted out. A request is dealt with within the period the law allows.
Contact
Write to [email protected], or to the registered office above, and mark the message for the attention of the person handling data requests. If you are dissatisfied with the response you may put the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the United Kingdom supervisory authority.
